2pm, january 9, 2010 san juan, puerto rico.... jws from all over the island take turns to use the biggest coliseum in the caribbean (jose miguel agrelot coliseum).
the big event... a brief 2-hour assembly featuring brooklyn bethel celebrities including anthony morris iii.
there had been a lot of excitement building up in the days preceding this event as there were rumors circulating that the society had a very special announcement to make.. after 2 ambiguous talks from 2 bethel speakers, anthony morris iii finally takes the stage and everyone is so thrilled to see him up close or on the big screen behind the stage.
Field service is the biggest nuisance in his religion! Whoever says they enjoy it is a big ass LIAR!!!
And then, to make it even less worth it, they want you to report less time than the time you waste doing it. So, one can leave the house by 9:15 a.m., returning home at 12:30, and due to the rules end up counting just 1 or 1 1/2 hrs for the field service report. The worst BS ever!
Because of this, most JWs inflate their hours.

Not a peep in the Spanish congs. Completely oblivious. If not for coming here, I would not suspect a thing.

remember there was a talk about not listening to "false stories" about sexual abuse from apostates on jw's fantasy station?
did the governing body put it out there as preemptive damage control because they knew this was coming?
they must have had subpoenas giving them a heads up.
Nothing will shake the faith of the true believer.

earlier this week i bumped into a couple of jws who i recognised from the cult cart.
a few months ago i had a long conversation with him one of them and found him to be quite friendly.
he is new to the area in the years since i left.. this time he was very defensive and said he wasn't allowed to talk to me.
Child abuse, along with any other human transgressions happen in any one group of people. Look/ask/investigate around. Sounds callous, I know, but it is the truth. No organization can control that.
They just need to change the authorities notification policy. The two witness policy is no longer, so there is some improvement in the case of accusations of physical/sexual abuse.
Also parents need to take better care of their young. Yes, parents.

i just found this website and im so glad because for the first time in a long time i dont feel alone...i am a born in and in the last two years have been struggling because i thought that i was the problem and i was the reason for not feeling any love from and for the other pubs .i want to leave the org but have no idea how to tell my mother(who is a faithful jw).

If you are in fact a teenager, get occupied with your education and getting set up financially in the world prior to making any quick decisions on leaving the Org. Get as much education as you can.

it's getting to the point where cnn should start announcing "breaking news" if there *hasn't* been a mass shooting !.
it's crazy.. i was watching the 70's documentary they are running and that's the point when media hype about mass serial killers seemed to begin the danger-gun-solution hype cycle.
sure, people had guns before then but nowhere near like it is now.. when will it end?
In this gun-crazy society, it is not surprising at all. Many more to come at a gathering near you.
If guns would not be as easy to obtain, a deranged person would make much less damage, if any; don't believe it? Check out the statistics in England, Australia or other societies where owning a gun is not as easy.
But, hey, as the gun nuts say: "Guns don't kill people. People kill people!"

it is reported that one elderly sister in british columbia expressed complete disgust at what she considered an obscene act in the bethel 'happy song'.
now everything is, of course, subject to perspective.
i would imagine her perspective is just as valuable as anyone elses.

i am currently having to spend a little time waiting for an appointment in the vicinity of a central london station.
whilst waiting i am catching up on some work in a cafe.
i can see a couple of trolleys and have been watching them for around an hour now.. not one person has stopped to take literature.
The elders tried to sign me up for this 'preaching cart' thing and I politely told them "no, thanks. I prefer knocking on doors or writing letters." To this day they look at me in a suspect sort of way. I do not care. I ain't wasting my time, looking weird, in some public corner. No way!
